This is me, TimeLierG and welcome to another episode of VidyuMyths, in this part I'm going to be talking about another mystery in the original Dark Souls, one that I talked about many times on the channel and one that can be found in the depths of Anor Londo behind an illusory wall that takes the form of Gwyn that can only be dispelled through the use of the darkmoon seance ring that is for some reason found within the Catacombs which is a bit of a mystery in of itself.

Unlike some of the other old mysteries in the game this is one that can be proven simply by making it past Gwyndolin, after dispelling the statue of Gwyn and defeating Gwyndolin you can proceed to the other end of the hallway to the tomb of Gwyn and see three chests, one contains the Sunlight Blade miracle, one contains the brass armor set and the one on the left side of the room doesn't contain any items. This is the only chest like this in the game if you don't count the one in Firelink Shrine that will have key items inside should you ever lose one of them such as the orange charred ring.

When the game came out there have been a few theories on this chest and the significance of it, everyone started theorizing on it's true purpose with some interesting posts being made in 2011 in regards to this seemingly empty chest. One post that I saw some time ago stated that the maiden set could somehow end up here when the right conditions were met while others speculated that the chest could be empty for a lore reason, perhaps there was a second brass armor set here, the one that the Anor Londo firekeeper wears since she seems closely related to Gwyndolin, possibly in his covenant judging by her dialogue. There was another interesting rumor aside from these few that states the chest itself has many glitchy effects about it, some may only be there on the pre-patch version of the game, one of these effects supposedly happens when you drop an item on top of the chest itself.

I'm going to be trying a few of these rumors out, both on the pre-patch version of the original Dark Souls PtDE of the game and on Dark Souls Remastered. The first thing I tried testing was dropping items into the chest which appeared to not cause anything to happen, I then tried opening the chests on my characters that haven't opened them yet, some on NG+ and some on a regular new game, something did happen eventually but it wasn't much, the game seemed to have lagged a bit as if something was going to happen upon the chest being opened, as far as I'm aware there's no script for anything to happen here otherwise it would have likely been talked about and widely known, I and other players have spent many years uncovering everything there is in this game, it's currently August 17th 2026 at the time of me writing the script for this video and it's been a good amount of time since the game came out.

The rumor that interested me the most were players supposedly finding the maiden set inside of this seemingly empty chest if the player has not yet been to the Duke's Archives, it's such an oddly specific thing that it makes me think there's something to it, I find it unlikely that this was a case of a playground rumor, a way to troll due to it being such an obscure thing to come up with, why the maiden set of all things? Whoever made this rumor could have said they received some unique armor set not found anywhere else in the game or a key to another undiscovered area but no, they claim that it's just an armor set that's obtained solely from the Duke's Archives. It could also be a simple mistake and they were thinking of that area instead of Anor Londo. Throughout my years of playing Dark Souls, throughout all of my playtime and characters I have not seen any items in this chest, at this point it's likely someone would have found something in there by now but anything is possible. There's been situations where Easter eggs have been discovered in older games decades later, if this isn't the case here then perhaps someone has or eventually will come up with an explanation for this in regards to the lore of the game such as the rumor of the chest once containing another set of brass armor that the Anor Londo firekeeper now wears.

There are a few things of interest in the Darkmoon Tomb where the three chests reside, there's two corners aside of each of the far chests that the player can walk through, there's also a limit to the illusory hallway during the boss fight with Gwyndolin, if the duel continues long enough the hallway eventually ends, this takes some time to do. Another thing are the statues of Gwyn and Gwynevere with a third pedestal meant for Gwyn's firstborn son, presumably there was a statue of him around Anor Londo but they've been removed after he was banished for supposedly siding with the ancient dragons, this could link back to the empty chest in the Darkmoon Tomb, maybe all three chests represented Gwynevere, Gwyn and his firstborn son but it couldn't have been the firstborn's chest as he left the Sunlight Blade miracle in the middle chest, some theories say that the empty chest was meant for an item from Gwynevere due to her leaving before Gwyn's journey to the kiln.

If there's no lore, roleplay or gameplay reason for the chest then perhaps it was something lost in development, there's quite a few unused items in Dark Souls one of which is named "Gwynevere's Talisman" and for some reason it is labeled as a "dragon talisman" in the item description, many assume this is where the talisman would have been placed, in the empty chest in Anor Londo within the Darkmoon Tomb. Another answer for the mysterious chest may be in another game, in Dark Souls 3 behind one of the empty corners as I mentioned before, the one on the right is no longer empty and contains a chest, within this chest is the reversal ring, while it doesn't bring us any closer to the truth of the empty chest from the original Dark Souls it is still interesting to point out, this is the only chest in this room in Dark Souls 3.

Whatever the truth is on this myth I think it is one of those mysteries that will keep all of us guessing at it for eternity or until a developer or Miyazaki himself states the reason for it, I feel as though it's better that the mystery persists so that we still have another thing to talk about and theorize on like many other unexplained rumors, myths, oddities and urban legends in video games, for me personally that's one of the best things about Dark Souls, it feels like an older game despite being released in 2011, when the game came out nobody knew what was in it, it felt endless like anything could happen at any time, the world of Lordran felt bigger than it actually is, but in a way because of these mysteries it is a bigger place, these virtual worlds are as deep as we make them out to be.

2005 BSA National Scout Jamboree - Chaos Crusader Council - Runes Quest - Patch.

This is another piece of RuneScape history that I'm proud to preserve, apparently this was made by a group of boy scouts in 2005? I didn't look into this too much but it has a few clear RuneScape references. I've taken a few pictures of this which will be included somewhere in my RuneScape archives. Something of note is that I found multiple of these, I am not sure if they are a reproduction or not, I currently own two with more on the way.

The references I noticed are...

1. A reference to amulets, more specifically an amulet of power.
2. The early RS2 looking dragon models that were in the game from March 29th 2004 - August 29th 2006.
3. A dragon battleaxe.
4. Login screen pillars and entrance without the braziers.
5. The sword kind of looks like the iconic one from the early RuneScape logo.

Other things I noticed...

The characters and their colors sort of remind me of RS1, this may or may not be an intentional reference. The yellow or peach colored square shield is similar to how the dragon sq shield looked like in the RS2 beta but only in regards to the color, the one in the patch shows a cross instead of a dragon and a red trim instead of the brown trim, I just thought this was a fun detail to point out, I'm not saying this is an intentional reference from whoever made this patch. Speaking of whoever made this patch in 2005, if you ever read this, you've done an excellent job on it, it's genuinely beautiful and it invokes a lot of nostalgia, you made a work of fan art that will eternally be a part of the history of RuneScape.

MC Beta 1.2_02 World Progress

I've been working on a few Minecraft beta 1.2_02 worlds over the past few years, I'd like to dedicate a post to my main one that I put a lot of passion and work into, I've been streaming my progress on this as well as posting screenshots of it to other forums, there's also a video I made on it titled "Minecraft Beta 1.2_02 Strangeness" where I show some odd things that have been happening in said world such as saplings spawning on top of trees (this is pretty common in any seed), torches being knocked off walls despite me not being nearby or creepers, the missing texture painting among other things. The video can be found here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYvT7Zx1V-A .

Some of these things I've heard of, others I haven't, this was the version I first played in 2011 as it was the newest version at the time, I'm very happy I got to experience MC beta even though I missed the alpha versions which I played later on, the communities back then were absolutely amazing, if I had known I would cherish what would become precious memories later on I would have taken more screenshots and saved the names of the servers I played on, I feel a certain way when the old music pieces start to play such as Wet / Dry Hands, Calm2, Mice on Venus / Living Mice, Subwoofer Lullaby and nuance2, it's a mix of yearning, nostalgia, melancholy and wonder, I think of what everyone I met in the game is doing now or if they remember those moments in those servers, I think the same for other games such as RuneScape, TF2, Garry's Mod and others. I think about the stuff I built and saw, all of the chats, I'd like to recount some of these things here in regards to MC.

In 2011 I remember I was on a server with a friend I met from my other friends, it was night on the server when we noticed this, we saw the name of a player underground around spawn despite it supposedly only being us on there, this was also a few years before they introduced name tags but it could have just been a plugin. We were trying to figure out a way to get to whatever was down there but couldn't due to the spawn protection, since it's been a long time I'm not sure if we ever saw the supposed player name moving down there or if it was just stationary. Herobrine was still talked about a lot in 2011, me and my friends were obsessed with creepypastas at the time and we were around 13 or 14 back then so we understood what it was instantly but there was always that "what if" in terms of creepy, unexplained things happening in video games and there still is, I've seen a lot of things in games whether they be single player, multiplayer and MMOs that truly don't have any explanations to them. I'm not sure if it was the same server but we eventually saw an admin trolling in a Herobrine skin as we were mining without torches, my friend said "look behind you" and the guy was just standing there in the dark which was funny.

There were many Minecraft videos from others that I watched at the time, The Yogscast, The Creatures, Team Avolition, etc, there's something about old Minecraft videos that give that same cozy feeling that the game does when playing it, me and one of my friends rewatch a lot of these entire channels yearly, it gives me the same feeling of browsing through old blog sites and forums, sometimes even after so many years of watching these there's always something new to notice. I've noticed the same players across different videos by different people while they were recording on public servers, it's rare but it does happen, I may have even seen some of them myself in-game.

Credit - YouTube. I just remembered I left some comments on a few Team Avo videos nine years ago, it's cool to see that others still watch them. This specific one is from one of their more popular ones, the ChaosCraft video from 6/5/2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TS1yGR0_yFw

I once hosted a server where I recreated a lot of the builds that were seen in these videos, I'm not sure if I still have the map. In this 1.2_02 world I'm working on I'd like to try to recreate entire towns instead of just one specific build / structure, that won't be for a few months though, probably. I'll show some of what I've been working on in regards to my own original builds, I always record and stream progress as well as post dates of when I made something on signs, I used to sometimes do that in old beta servers as well, feel free let me know if you ever see some of my stuff on any servers that are still running old maps from back then.

A statue I made of myself, I remember people making a lot of these self statues during beta. The lighthouse and floating island, I used a lot of mossy cobble for the lighthouse as I've been finding a lot of dungeons around the time I built that. As for the floating island, this took me around an hour and a half to make if you don't include the time it took for the dirt staircase to grow grass all of the way up there.

I would like to speak on every project that is currently being worked on in regards to game development.

Project Antler - This has been sitting around for a while, it was supposed to be a game where you manage your own land, you could farm, upgrade your house and explore dungeons, there was a few more original ideas that I won't mention as I may still work on this game instead of cancelling it. As it currently is, the game is not canon to the other Reltionus Realms games.

DARKODAI - I'm going to be releasing the game in chapters, it will be available for purchase later on in 2026.

Project Craft - I started development on this one recently, I may merge Project Antler with this one, this is a bigger passion project like Crescent Quest, it's meant to be a nostalgic experience.

I'm also working on a sequel to another game I released, I'm trying to manage two of these games at a time, I'm still the only one working on these so give me a bit of time and they'll come out nicely. As always these games are made solely by me with my husband playing them and giving me advice, I love him so much and I appreciate all of those who are interested in our work. These games, blog posts, videos and everything else by us will always be made out of eternal passion, love and respect for the work itself and those who partake in them, we love nostalgia and the works of old, whether that be from the 2000s or earlier, for this reason everything we do is by our eternal souls and our own touch, provided to us by Heavenly Father God and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, please offer and accept peace, including His peace, care for others and yourself, if you took the time to look at my blog and give me a moment of your time in that way, or if you saw us elsewhere, thank you so much. I may post some screenshots of my game projects here tomorrow or in a few days.

Hello, Crescent Knights. You may have noticed that the Steam version of Crescent Quest now has unlockable achievements, this was done with the help of Zeriab's Steamworks Achievements Integration Package, a very large thank you to them! The game credits have been updated to include this.
There are currently over 40 achievements to earn which I have spent the last week designing and coming up with, every achievement is obtainable and I will update any of them if there are any errors that make them unobtainable to make them achievable again. I was against the idea of adding achievements to Crescent Quest at first as it goes against my own design philosophy and opinions but I decided, hey, they are optional, so I came around to the idea of them. Each players experience will still be unique, of course.
The world of Reltionus is more than a simple checklist, I made it to be a lived in world with many paths, characters, quests, items and so on that one player will see and others may not, Crescent Quest is of course inspired by MMOs, games in that genre are not meant to be completed most of the time and the definition of "complete" is different from player to player, some players will choose to become one of the best at fishing, others will choose to solely train their combat skills, some will try to complete all of the quests. With that being said, how you choose to play the game is up to you, no matter how you decide to play I have added rewards to benefit almost each and every kind of player. I sincerely appreciate all of your time, thank you very much for being a part of Crescent Quest and in extension Reltionus Realms!
Here are the update notes for Crescent Quest 1.9.0;
* Added more Ashloer and Crescent Ore rocks around the world.
* Fixed a few incorrect enemy IDs for a group of Vuthicar Followers.
* Altered certain item descriptions to be more accurate.
* Lowered the amount of Energy restored from Energy Renewals.
* Increased the amount of Health recovered from the Velvet Cake.
* Increased the amount of Heat Coirts obtained from the Spitehound Chest.

Here are the update notes for Crescent Quest 1.9.0;

Dark Souls had quite a few rumors when it came out in September 2011, some rumors took some time before being discussed on forums, however the one that was talked about almost immediately was that of the pendant, a strange item that can be chosen as a starting gift upon creating a character. It's strange as every other starting gift has an obvious use, some more useful than others for utility and for lore as well as for roleplaying purposes. Speaking of roleplaying purposes the pendants item description says "A simple pendant with no effect. Even so, pleasant memories are crucial to survival on arduous journeys.".

Due to this item description saying the item has no effect led many to believe there was one, it should be noted that before a certain patch the pendant had the same item description as the sunlight medal for some reason, I assume that was a simple oversight. Sometime after the games release Hidetaka Miyazaki mentioned the pendant in a few interviews, one time saying something along the lines of that he would never reveal the true use of the pendant, he also stated something similar to "the players should choose the pendant or nothing at all for their starting gift" which led many to do so and to go on a quest to find the true purpose of the pendant.

Over time there was more information found in-game involving this pendant, such as additional ways of obtaining it outside of players choosing it as a starting gift, a few of these methods include...

1. As a drop from Maiden Reah at the Undead Burg chapel where one of the Firekeeper Souls are, for the item to drop Petrus must be the one to slay her if you progress far enough for him to do so.

2. As a drop from the Forest Hunter covenant in Darkroot Garden in PvP.

These are the only other ways of obtaining the pendant in the game, unless of course you trade another player for it. Despite players taking pendants with them, finding every illusory wall in the game, going to Ash Lake, the Painted World and so on to try to find a secret involving it there was only one use discovered. The player can drop trade the pendant to Snuggly the crow in the Undead Asylum to obtain a Souvenir of Reprisal, there's been some theories passed around on the meaning of this, if the pendant is in some way related to Gwyndolin or Velka, it could have also been involved in a piece of cut content as there was a scrapped Velka covenant at one point in development that seems to have gotten a decent amount of work put into it before being cut.

Eventually Artorias of the Abyss was released which featured another pendant that acted as a key to enter the DLC, I always theorized that the regular pendant was related to Manus' own broken pendant, I've never heard someone mention this before but my own personal theory is that the pendant could have been hinting at the DLCs release in a very subtle way as the item descriptions mentions that the Chosen Undead and in extension the player does or will have memories with said item, this is similar to how it's theorized Manus has connections or memories with his own pendant. Speaking of Artorias of the Abyss, sometime after the DLCs release Miyazaki in another interview made one final statement on the pendant where he says that he "had a bit of an intention of playing a prank" when it comes to the pendant itself.

This statement has always been a bit odd to me considering the pendant does in fact have a use, albeit a small one, I suppose what he meant is that he was making it seem like there was a larger purpose to it as some players theorized after the game came out, some players speculated that it would unlock a third ending or another questline which is not the case, as much as Nora wants it to be the case. Over time less and less players invested time into trying to uncover something new about the item, the search never truly stopped but everyone has combed through entire game and the files within at this point, fourteen years later and nothing else has been found involving the pendant in the first Dark Souls.

Some years later after the release of Artorias of the Abyss, the sequel to Dark Souls was revealed, Dark Souls 2. Some of the directors of the game were interviewed by GameTrailers and asked about the pendant in Dark Souls and if something similar would appear in Dark Souls 2 to which they responded and said they like elements such as the pendant in Dark Souls 1 and would like to add things in Dark Souls 2 that would play with the players in terms of their curiosity. This quote also made me curious about if that plan they had to "play with the players" made it into Dark Souls 2, there's a lot of unexplained things in the game which may be related to cut content due to it's rough development and changing of directors and story but perhaps there's a lot of intentional things such as the blue flames that can appear at certain NG+ or bonfire aesthetic levels in the Majula Mansion.

After Dark Souls 2 and all of it's DLC released, including the Scholar of the First Sin version there was no pendant to be found, every item in Dark Souls 2 has a use no matter how obscure those uses are, most players were focused on theorizing about the main story of the game itself instead of the more obscure things within the game, it was only until many years after the release of the game when players started looking more closely at it. It seems like everything that could be said about the pendant has been stated, the discussions about it became more quiet. Until Dark Souls 3 released...

With the release of Dark Souls 3 in April of 2016 there were a few players discussing the pendant again due to an item that was found behind an illusory wall, most of the players didn't notice the design of this item or weren't familiar with the pendant in the original Dark Souls so this wasn't talked about too much but there were still a few posts about it online. What was this item? The Dreamchasers Ashes, used to progress Sirris' questline as well as with all of the other ashes in the game can also be given to the Shrine Handmaid, once given to the her she has dialogue where she claims that "it's the stuff of a fool" and says that it comes from one who is "clinging to dreams", you might be wondering why she says this and what the Dreamchasers Ashes are, if you look closely at the item you can see it's someones hand clutching what looks like a pendant.

Will this be the final mention of the pendant, was this the conclusion? Who knows.

Hello, Crescent Knights! This update, version 1.8.9, will be followed by another one. There's a lot of changes that are in the process of being implemented, expect a few subtle oversights in this version of Crescent Quest. I would also like to announce that the third expansion for the game is on the horizon!

* Added Feigndaggers, these are similar to protection daggers but without the defense.

* Added the Honeysuckle Dagger.

* Added a controllable, customizable and upgradable boat that the player can obtain. This boat can access many different islands and caves in the wide open seas of Keedbalt, more will be added to this in future updates.

* Added color dyes and the ability to dye capes, this was meant to be in the game around eight years ago along with a quest that I'm still in the process of writing.

* Added Snarlizkin's Market, you can find all sorts of unique items from him, that is if he's currently selling them. It's up to your luck whether you get the item you desire, many wares here were previously unused items I had planned for the game in the past, some of them even dating back to over ten years ago! This market is not available in Henodran Mode.

* Added more benefits to having higher Renown, some shops now have more in depth discounts depending on the players Renown.

* Fixed a low FPS and lag issue.

* Fixed a few sprites in regards to scenery objects.

* Fixed an issue with the Crystal Shield spell.

* Altered many pieces of gear including their stats and descriptions.

* Altered the sprites for the Gilded Cape and Lygrant's Cape among other pieces of gear.

* Altered aspects of Hardcore Mode.
I have also added Suerte, she can be found in Bloodrite City at the start of the area. Suerte is currently handing, or rather pawing out the mentioned event items. Some of these items will be discontinued after this event is over.

I absolutely love this game, especially the art style, it reminds me of old MC beta texture packs from 2011. I got the supporter edition of the game for the cosmetics and just to support the developers who put a lot of effort into everything they've made, speaking of the cosmetics, I've shown them off on stream, I'll be streaming all of my progress on the game live. As usual I like to prove I've made all of my progress legitimately, aside from that reason though it is a fun and cozy game so it's nice to share that experience with others, I'll be editing the streams and making regular videos out of them also.

Here's the first part of my time with the game as well as some screenshots of my first house.
