  The bad side of leaks.
Posted by: TimeLierG - 10-14-2024, 09:20 PM - Forum: CompanionMon Board - No Replies

I'd like to post my thoughts on the recent leaks, not actually the content within them but the affect it has on message boards and other kinds of communities. Every time a situation like this happens our communities get flooded by users from other sites, I always browse /vp/ among other boards so I noticed it happened instantly, a bunch of normies start screenshotting and sharing it all over large social media platforms, bringing more users to our sites. Now, I'm aware that Pokemon is one of, if not the most popular series to exist but that doesn't mean our communities are, that doesn't mean more obscure discussions about prototype / beta content or mysteries relating to our series are talked about greatly, there's a disconnect between us and outsiders who are not gatekept, you can see it when someone posts NSFW art, animations, writings and so on, the virtue signalers come out to talk about how fictional animals and characters are real like insane lunatics, calling everyone zoophiles.

This is pretty funny considering these same normies have been spouting the Vaporeon copypasta for years now, aside from that they aren't interested in our communities but join them anyway and try to insert themselves into conversations they know nothing about, they'll come into a thread about theories regarding certain aspects of the lore and absolutely trash said thread. Situations like this is similar to what 4chan turned into during and after 2016, it's sad. Thankfully most of them don't stay. I have been seeing many comments on the leak itself, discussions regarding the Pokemon mythology notes, posting Typhlosion memes despite the amount of interesting, mystery solving content within the leak, there's zoom zooms and millennials insulting GameFreak for writing such a thing when similar stuff already exists in the games, the Canalave library in DPPt and the lady and her Mightyena in Colosseum come to mind. They don't care about these games or their stories, lore, or their development, they come in for a laugh or to act like posers and to try to change things like specific forum culture.

I'm all for having fun and posting jokes but come on, the shift in the culture of our communities before and after is very visible. Look at how internet culture as a whole changed over time due to everyone having more access to it. By the way, type in "Typhlosion" and see how many news articles there are already and tell me there's not a problem, look at the way they are titled as well, they don't even make any sense.

  NightDirge 1.0.7
Posted by: TimeLierG - 10-10-2024, 12:48 PM - Forum: Update Notes - No Replies

Thank you all for your interest in NightDirge!

* Added more items in Bloodrite City.

* Increased the rare item drop chance from the Vine Magus.

* Increased the SP recovered from Spirit Flowers.

* Decreased the damage done by vine wrap.

* Decreased the drop chance of the paw grenade from various foes.

* Fixed an issue relating to super bosses.

* Fixed the first bonus area not adding Fang to your party after it is over.

* Added the "Tail Magazine" for that one anon.

There will be many more updates to come that will add more content to the game such as new super bosses, auras, gear and more. Oh yeah, be careful in the Bloodrite Hotel around Halloween, I heard it gets pretty crazy in there around that time.

Refining your game can be bad.
Posted by: TimeLierG - 10-07-2024, 07:18 PM - Forum: TimeLierG Blog / Archive - No Replies

I made a post on Twitter / X yesterday and it's something I wanted to elaborate on, the post I made was about RS2.

"I really dislike the direction they went in later years with RS2, the old textures are really iconic. The game felt more moody, mystical and unclean before the graphical updates. You can definitely refine a game too much, just my thoughts anyway."

I feel as though developers need to understand when they hit a sweet spot for their art style, aesthetic, graphics what have you, it's something I am also careful of. If you create a game and release it, the art style is set in stone, when it comes to online games developers like to always try to outdo themselves or in other cases the company gets disrespectful employees who desire to ruin the original vision. The original graphics may look bad as time passes but that is what made them unique, it's what gives the game charm, if you try to clean textures to where there's no artifacts or blemishes it will look too polished like everything is the same color, it will look dull. If you are making a game I hope you admire what you create, it may already be perfect.

All of my games, art, writing and all else will always be done by me as they always have been. As Crescent Quest is reaching 10 years old I notice how awful it must feel for new devs having to prove they don't use AI, my advice is to do what I do, stream / record your progress.

Rocky pet after defending Jesus Christ.
Posted by: TimeLierG - 09-30-2024, 07:55 PM - Forum: TimeLierG Blog / Archive - No Replies

I just got the Rocky pet from Vyres at the same time as me defending Jesus Christ on twitter / x. T hank you God, Lord Jesus Christ and Inari. I will always keep defending you, you make my life feel like the Afterlife on Earth. My deepest and most soulful thanks for giving me signs of commune. I am your servant always for eternity.

  Crescent Quest 1.8.0 - Halloween 2024
Posted by: TimeLierG - 09-26-2024, 11:51 AM - Forum: Update Notes - No Replies

* The Halloween event is now active. You can obtain the new Haunted Witch Hat for a limited time until the event is over from the Cressora Town event portal, this one won't be returning just like the other discontinued event items!

* Updated the designs of certain items such as the Dreaumaren Staff and Lygrant's Staff.

* Updated specific item descriptions and effects.

* Updated the look of common lightling trees.

* Fixed more quest oversights, this is the fifth time I'm fixing the Crescent Mansion quest, let's hope it stays fixed this time.

* Fixed a door in the Malatirgus Tunnels as well as a roof in southern Keedbalt.

* Removed a quest character from Lusnayin City, he will be added back at a later date.

* Added the Aged Angelic Rock. This can be used to give a healing effect to certain rings.

It's like the new DR / UT newsletter is for me.

It's like the newsletter was made for me. Those unused Power of Neo tracks are awesome also, I enjoyed seeing fan made versions of geno Mettaton back in the day when the game released, brought back some memories for me and my friends.
